Good afternoon,
I have set up a new free Google account for IPBS. This is where we will store all our documents, not the website, this includes photos, communications and reports. One note, is that you do not need any software to use this. You create and edit all your documents right online. There is version and collaboration control built in, so you should not download a document to edit it or all version history will be lost.
Initially, I've created some folders, but it is easy to add more as we need them. This is selfservice, so I don't need to create them for you.
There is also an Address Book which I have populated with our member's contact info and our Friends/Guests. You will see on the left side of the Contacts page, groupings by member status. This makes it easier to find people. We do have a large number of members with a current status of "Unknown", and missing contact information, which we need to resolve.
The Council members will share this account using a common logoin and password. Please do not share this with anyone else.
Here is the how you access:

National Capital Commission (NCC) "Confederation Pavilion" - Exhibition on the Irish Diaspora in Canada, August, 2017, Ottawa
Dear Friends,
Further to my email below, our working groups are progressing the two initiatives as part of the events to mark 2017. We would like to invite organisations to participate as follows:
National Capital Commission’s (NCC) “Confederation Pavilions”
The working group is coordinating Ireland’s participation in the NCC’s events to mark 2017. The NCC is providing a two floor exhibition space in the historic centre of Ottawa for two weeks in August. We will present an exhibition on the Irish Diaspora in Canada, from pre-famine to the contemporary, to commemorate the important and positive contribution that the Irish in Canada have made to the fabric of Canadian life as we know it today. This will include Irish contributions to all areas of Canadian life such as sport, politics, economy, science, culture.
The exhibition will include the stories of Irish emigrants and their descendants across Canada to increase awareness and understanding of the diaspora experience in Canada, and will celebrate the links between Ireland and Canada. We would like to invite contributions from community members across the country, on all periods from pre-famine to the present day.
We would like to request community organisations to submit a short submission detailing what might be particularly interesting to include to represent their Province/city. Grateful if you could include Irish people or people of Irish descent who have made a contribution locally or nationally (for example a Father of Confederation, a scientist, a hockey player, a contemporary artist …); an outline of one or two stories of local interest; and any other details of the local Irish contribution to Canadian life. Our committee will then contact you for more details on the aspects that would fit in well with the exhibition.
All ideas are welcome. Please send to Elizabeth.Keogh@dfa.ie by 31 March.
City of Ottawa’s “Ottawa Welcomes the World”
The City of Ottawa has provided the use of the Horticulture Building in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, on Friday 16 June. The space will be open to the public between 10am and 10pm, including to school groups. This will be an “Ireland in Canada” pavilion for the day with a series of performances on the stage (music, dance, theatre, to include a Bloomsday celebration), interactive activities such as Gaelic Games and dancing, and interactive booths around the room for presentations.
Irish community organisations are invited to send expressions of interest in taking part, whether in person or in providing material about your organisation for a booth. Please send to Elizabeth.Keogh@dfa.ie by 22 March.
If anyone is interested in working on these two projects more closely, please let me know.
Best regards,
Liz

Subject: Ireland’s participation in two initiatives to mark 2017
Dear Friends,
I would be grateful if you could share the following notice with your members.
The Embassy is coordinating Ireland’s participation in the following two initiatives as part of the events to mark 2017:
The City of Ottawa’s http://www.ottawa2017.ca/ has invited embassies to take part in its programme “Ottawa Welcomes the World”, noting that “Canada’s diversity is an integral part of its history, its heritage, its pride…its DNA”. They have provided the use of the Horticulture Building in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, on Friday 16 June. The space will be open to the public between 10am and midnight. This will be an “Ireland in Canada” pavilion for the day and we foresee extensive Irish community involvement with a series of performances on the stage (music, dance, theatre, to include a Bloomsday celebration) and booths around the room for presentations. School groups will visit during the day and the programme will include interactive cultural activities for them.
The National Capital Commission http://www.ncc-ccn.gc.ca/about-ncc has invited diplomatic missions to participate in their programme of “Confederation Pavilions” to exhibit and promote their relations with Canada, and showcase the best of their culture, commerce, ideas, values and traditions. They has offered a two floor exhibition space in the Bytowne area of Ottawa for two weeks, August 16 to August 28. Ireland will present an exhibition on The Irish Diaspora in Canada: A History, from pre-famine to the present, and the Embassy would like to work with Irish community organisations on putting together the content. The space will be open each day for the core hours 10am to 6pm Tuesday to Sunday and Thursday from 10am to 8pm, and we have flexibility to stay open later on other evenings if we wish to hold evening events such as talks or film screenings. It is intended that elements of the exhibition would then be made available to show in other locations across Canada.
We are putting together two working groups to organize the content for these two events – it is not necessary to be resident in Ottawa to take part in the working groups as we can liaise by phone and email. Also, recognizing travel distances, it is not necessary to commit to attending the events in order to take part in the working groups. The working groups will cover such areas as the planning schedule, programming, concept and design development, research, resources and publicity.
We look forward to working with you on these exciting opportunities to present the vibrancy of the Irish community in Canada.
I would be grateful if those interested could email me by Friday 9 December indicating which of the working groups (or both) you would like to take part in, together with your contact details and organization if applicable.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Keogh

Subject: Montreal St Patrick's Parade - confirmation - Section AA
SECTION AA : ARRIVAL TIME 09:00 AM - 09:30 AM
Streets: Seymour to Fort on Rene Levesque Blvd. (in reverse order, marshals will place you)
Hello everyone, thank you once again for being part of the Parade. Enclosed are details regarding protocol, check in and details of your section.
All vehicles must check in at Peel and Rene Levesque, prior to entering the staging area. You will be given a 2017 official vehicle logo.
Any supporting vehicles for decorating have 15 minutes to unload and then be removed from the staging area.
Each float must assign 2 people to be spotters at the back of the float. Our marshal will give you the security vest upon arrival. It must be returned at the end of the Parade at Phillips Square, see att'd diagram for where your spotters need to walk during the parade.
If your group is coming by bus (bands), see diagram for parking. The bus will need to drop you off on the eastbound lane of Rene Levesque, you will have to cross the street. Your bus can proceed to the bus parking area. Contact me for official logo for the dashboard.
Please ensure you have a list of all your participants. Once the Parade is on St. Catherine's St
there is no on or off the float. If someone must disembark, the float must be at a complete stop and is not
allowed back on the float. Any souvenirs must be handed to the crowd and not tossed from the float. With regards
to cleaning the vehicles in the staging area, please use rags and do not bring water that may create ice.
Check in times are for vehicles. Someone with keys must remain with the vehicle at all times ( coffee break or washroom ). Large
walking units can come before 11:30am. Check in with your section head marshal, upon arrival.
Att'd is the Emergency plan just in case. Please ensure you set up a rendez vous point for your unit, in case of emergency.
This is a procedure that we have brought in from Girl Guides of Canada; it's just common sense. Ensure you have a full list of your participants on hand parade day.
Professional floats made by Pays Au Geants only will be found West of Fort on St. Catherine's Street.
Remember to use public transportation if possible, the parade is a one way affair
Looking forward to a warmer Parade, compared to the last few years. When Fort Street is closed, we will move you up Fort St into lineup.
Patty

PS: Awards Banquet will be held April 1st. Hope to see you all there! If you are chosen to win a trophy, the ceremony will be held before our banquet from 5 PM - 6 PM at the Evo Centre Ville, downtown.

Dinner for the Irish Ambassador, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, Atwater Club, 3505 Atwater, 6:30 PM
From: Michael Kenneally [mailto:Michael.Kenneally@concordia.ca]
Sent: May-12-16 9:35 PM
To: Michael Kenneally
Subject: Dinner for Ambassador
Dear Members of Montreal’s Irish Community,
Some of you did not receive this message the first time, so I am sending it again. My apologies for duplications. Please circulate to your members and to those who may be interested.
I am pleased to inform you that a farewell dinner will be held for Ambassador Ray Bassett and his wife, Patricia, to thank them for their extraordinary commitment to, and support of, our community during their six years in Ottawa. The dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 29 (the date had to be re-scheduled because of Ambassador Bassett’s schedule) at the Atwater Club, 3505 Avenue Atwater, just north of Sherbrooke (514 935 2431), and is open to all members of the Irish community and their partners. Tickets will be arranged on an individual basis but Irish associations are invited to arrange seating together for their members.
Cocktails will begin at 6.30pm (cash bar) with dinner planned for 7.15pm. Tickets are $65 (fish or beef) or $60 (chicken) inclusive of all taxes and cost of dinner for the Bassetts. Wine is extra. Because the Atwater Club requires one payment, cheques should be made out to “Michael Kenneally” and I will pay the Club. I expect space to be limited so I encourage you to make reservations early. Space will be allocated strictly on a first come first served basis. Reservations will not be confirmed without payment. Mail your cheques to me at the address below, and indicate your choice of menu and whether or not you will be sitting with an association. If you have queries, you can email: cdnirish.fas@concordia.ca or phone 514 848 2424, ex. 8711.
I expect that different associations may wish to make presentations to the Bassetts but I leave these details up to each group. I look forward to an enjoyable evening when members of the Montreal Irish community can come together to celebrate, while also acknowledging our appreciation to Ambassador and Patricia Bassett.
Michael Kenneally

Good day everyone!
Attached, please find your invitation and application to join the Irish of Montreal in celebrating our 193rd parade.
Date: Sunday, March 20th.
At this moment, we believe the parade route will not be altered due to ongoing construction in the downtown area, however, we will certainly keep everyone informed as we get closer to the date. Regardless, we will be on parade downtown as usual !
Please return your parade application before the February 1st deadline.
Notes:
Our Queen's Selection Evening
Have you ever wonder how we choose these amazing young women that become our ambassadors each year?
Tickets: $25.00 each
Date: Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 7:00 PM
Location: Buffet Sorrento in LaSalle, Qc
See our website for details. If you know any young women between 18 and 25 years old, that are of Irish decent, that would be interested in trying to win a trip to Ireland.........our website has the details, too.
Our parade will be on Palm Sunday therefore there will NOT be a Green Mass at St. Patrick's Basilica.
Funding our parade is necessary. If you would consider sponsorship (contact Danny Doyle Jr. at 514.239.1075) or even a personal donation (available on our website www.montrealirishparade.com). We would truly appreciate your financial support. Our parade is budgeted at $120,000 for the day. In order to deliver a spectacular event to Montrealers, an event that is put on by a team of volunteers, we would like your support.
Looking forward to a warmer day in March than the last two years!
